A debt recovery firm is to create up to 100 Scots jobs in the next year.

Credit and debt recovery specialists Mackenzie Hall Ltd has already recruited 20 new staff in the last quarter, with a further 40 to 50 posts to be filled in the next couple of months.

More are expected later in the year.

The new telephone collector and team manager posts will be based at the firm’s state-of-the-art call centre and headquarters in Kilmarnock’s Portland Street, where the workforce already exceeds 100 people.

Chief executive Paul Mackenzie said: “This is great news for Mackenzie Hall and underlines our commitment to Kilmarnock.

“Since founding the business in 2003, we have experienced steady growth, building up an excellent team of highly skilled personnel.

“Now with new business wins under our belt, Mackenzie Hall is expanding and we are looking to recruit experienced, enthusiastic people with excellent communication and negotiation skills to be part of our continued development and growth.”

Essentially helping credit firms trace debtors and helping debtors pay off what they owe through realistic payment plans, the firm works with most of the UK’s largest debt purchasers, finance houses, utilities companies and mail order firms.

It has also recently started to work with overseas online suppliers of “pay day loans”.

The company deals with more than 1 million individual debts each year and, with the vast majority of contact made via telephone, mail, text or through their interactive website, Mackenzie Hall is at the forefront of both technological innovation and best practice.

Paul added: “The debt collection industry is constantly evolving to meet regulatory standards and employ the best technology to identify and enable those who can pay off their debts to do so.

“All of our staff receive full and ongoing training and the skills required are reflected in our excellent rates of pay.”
